Overview And Experience

Emilie Cook practices primarily criminal defence law, as well as some administrative and regulatory work with the Licence Suspension Appeal Board, Driver Fitness (MPI), and other quasi-criminal tribunals. She has represented clients in all levels of court in Manitoba, up to the Court of Appeal. She accepts clients on a private basis as well as Legal Aid files. Emilie is also a notary public.

Emilie graduated from the Robson Hall Faculty of Law at the University of Manitoba in 2021 and was called to the bar in 2022. Before embarking on her legal career, Emilie earned her Bachelor of Science (Major – Biological Sciences) in 2011 and her Doctor of Medical Dentistry in 2015. She practiced dentistry in the North end of Winnipeg, as well as pediatric dentistry, for 2 years before deciding to pursue Law as her chosen career.

Born and raised in Winnipeg, she has a deep connection to the community and has a passion for advocating and promoting justice in Manitoba. In school, she founded and was the President of the Robson Hall Animal Rights Forum student group to promote and educate others about the growing field of Animal Rights law. She is a long-time board member and now Secretary of the Manitoba Criminal Justice Association and on the Board of Directors for Tamarack Recovery Centre. She is a member of the Manitoba Bar Association, Canadian Bar Association, and Law Society of Manitoba.

When she is not at the office, she enjoys playing pickleball, reading, going for walks with her 2 dogs, and is a lifelong Blue Bombers fan.
